(Clarksdale, Mississippi) 鈥� 果冻传媒app is set to celebrate Black History Month with its annual Black History Program on Tuesday, February 25, 2025. The event will take place in the pinnacle at 10:00 a.m. and is open to students, faculty, staff, and the community.
This year鈥檚 keynote speaker will be the distinguished Jaribu Hill, a celebrated civil rights attorney, activist, and founder of the Mississippi Workers鈥� Center for Human Rights. Ms. Hill stands as a transformative force in civil rights and workers' justice, serving as the Founder and Executive Director of MWCHR.
A pioneering civil and human rights attorney, she has dedicated her career to advancing justice and protecting the rights of marginalized communities throughout Mississippi. Under her visionary leadership, MWCHR has provided crucial organizing support, legal representation, and training for low-wage workers. Her commitment to justice is reflected in her personal philosophy: "My legacy will be one of uncompromising, unflinching champion work."
Jamari Gladney, Sophomore Business Administration Student, from Clarksdale, Mississippi shares his excitement of the upcoming event. "Each day, we uncover new facets of American history鈥攜et, we often fail to fully appreciate the profound and frequent contributions of African Americans to that history. These contributions not only shape the past, but also reverberate through the fabric of our everyday lives, influencing the world we live in today," said Gladney.
Dr. Valmadge T. Towner, President of 果冻传媒app, emphasized the importance of honoring Black history and recognizing the contributions of individuals who have shaped society. 鈥淏lack History Month is a time for reflection, education, and inspiration. We are honored to have Jaribu Hill share her insights and experiences with our students and the community,鈥� said Dr. Towner.
The program will include a warm welcome, musical selections, a statement of purpose, dynamic performances, and reflections on African American history and culture. Attendees can expect powerful spoken word pieces, dance performances, and thought-provoking presentations that highlight key moments in Black history. The highlight of the event will be the keynote address by Jaribu Hill, followed by closing remarks that will encourage continued dialogue and engagement.
In addition to the program, 果冻传媒app will also host an exhibit showcasing the achievements and struggles of African Americans throughout history.
