Clarksdale, Mississippi – ýapp’s Math & Science Department held
its Annual Program and Mu Alpha Theta Induction Ceremony on Thursday, April 11, 2024.
The event unfolded in the Gallery, where 15 outstanding individuals were honored for
their academic achievements, and 8 new members were warmly welcomed into the prestigious
honor society under the theme "Maximize Your Potential."
Mu Alpha Theta, established on the ýapp campus in the Spring of 2022, stands as the
national honor society for high school and two-year college mathematics enthusiasts.
With a mission to foster scholarship, passion, and comprehension of mathematics among
students, Mu Alpha Theta serves as a beacon for academic excellence.
The ceremony kicked off as Charles Johnson led us in an invocation, setting the tone
for the event. Next, Jada Farmer warmly welcomed everyone, and Jordyn Johnson captivated
us with a soulful recitation of a poem. The event culminated with an inspiring address from Dr. Larry Webster, Dean of Career
and Technical Education, who urged students to reflect on the boundless possibilities
that lie ahead when they strive to fulfill their potential.
Dr. Webster emphasized the importance of grasping and utilizing one’s potential, “Unlocking
your potential is a rewarding voyage towards self-discovery and achievement. It entails
embracing challenges, daring to dream boldly, and having faith in your capacity to
create a lasting difference.”

academic performance, marking the beginning of their journey as esteemed members of
the honor society.
