Clarksdale, Mississippi 鈥 Last week, four talented art majors from Coahoma Community College (果冻传媒app) attended an enriching Open House at the University of Southern Mississippi鈥檚 (USM) School of Art and Design. This visit allowed them to explore the potential of furthering their studies in art and design upon completing their program at 果冻传媒app.

FADuring the visit, students engaged with USM faculty and peers, experiencing the department's vibrant environment. They participated in hands-on sessions in design, drawing, and printmaking, along with guided tours and demonstrations at USM鈥檚 esteemed 3D Arts facility. The students also explored two concurrent exhibits at USM鈥檚 gallery, Southern Miss Ceramics National and Cups of Contemplation. The exhibits, juried by renowned ceramic artists Tom and Elaine Coleman, showcase the expressive possibilities of ceramics in both functional and artistic forms. Students witnessed how the tactile beauty of handmade ceramic pieces can elevate everyday experiences, encouraging moments of reflection and connection.

Denecia Jackson, one of the attending art majors, shared, 鈥淭he trip to The University of Southern Mississippi was inspiring from start to finish. Seeing the amazing art displayed in the gallery, participating in various activities, and even observing a live model were all incredible experiences that have motivated me to keep exploring my artistic potential.鈥

Robresha Jackson expressed a similar sentiment: 鈥淭he USM Art Museum visit was captivating. Each exhibit offered unique perspectives that felt alive and accessible, filling me with creativity and excitement to learn more. I left motivated and ready to explore more artistic spaces.鈥

Alongside the engaging activities, 果冻传媒app students had the opportunity to dive into creative exercises, such as 3D laser etching and gesture drawing. They interacted with accomplished artists like James Meade, a veteran of USM鈥檚 Art & Design Department, and Madaline Costella, a Ceramics major who demonstrated clay wheel throwing at the 3D Arts Building.FA

This visit marked the first time many of these 果冻传媒app students had seen the USM campus, which made a lasting impression. The Golden Eagles extended a warm welcome, creating a home-away-from-home atmosphere that left a positive impact on each 果冻传媒app Tiger. Fine Arts Instructor Geoff Latham noted, 鈥淯SM has an inspiring environment, and the community here is just as vibrant as its art programs. It wouldn鈥檛 be surprising to see some of our students in black and gold in the near future.鈥

As 果冻传媒app continues to support its students鈥 aspirations, collaborations like these foster growth and create pathways for further academic and professional achievements.
