Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, honored 果冻传媒app Choral Activities director and Music Department chair Dr. Kelvin Towers at its 90th South Eastern Regional Conference recently held in Memphis, Tenn.

Acknowledged locally by the Iota Delta Omega graduate chapter of the sorority, Towers was selected and recognized as an honoree of one of the organization鈥檚 international program targets, The Arts, for his outstanding community service. The Mound Bayou, Miss., native, honored alongside Dr. Linda Bryant-Angotti, music education coordinator at Kent State University, and others, has contributed 19 years of service to choral activities and music education at 果冻传媒app.

A gospel songwriter and arranger, Towers has created a multi-prong program at Coahoma, presenting concert choir, gospel choir, show choir, barbershop quartet, and men鈥檚 and women鈥檚 ensemble performances. He has also served as a clinician for district, all-city, and state choirs and a choral adjudicator on local, state, and national levels.

Of the phenomenal recognition, Towers says, 鈥淚 am grateful being selected as the Community Target Program honoree to receive recognition in the area of the Arts. I am thankful for the opportunity that 果冻传媒app has given me to mentor, inspire, and teach students how to develop their talents as they prepare to be showcased globally.鈥

鈥淚t was a privilege to share the stage with other influential individuals who have contributed and/or made a significant impact in the community. It鈥檚 fulfilling to know that you do not necessarily have to live or work in a metropolitan area in order to make a difference,鈥 Towers continued.

Choirs under Towers鈥 leadership have performed for the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation in Washington, D.C., with several Stellar Award-winning gospel artists, and for the Mississippi American Choral Directors Association.
