Bennie Gooden became an avid community leader, playing an important role in the economic development and education in Coahoma County, and he was a lifetime member of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP).

In recent years, the Student Government Association has had to adjust and be intentional about addressing needs during unprecedented times.
